Welcome to Love Nest Studios

Nests are such a marvel of architecture, design, construction and resourcefulness. When we see a nest, they call to our soul and the very beginning of our beginnings. A nest is that sacred of all spaces, real or imagined, where we want to be kept warm, nurtured, nourished, safe and loved. Our own nests, in whatever shape or size they take throughout our lives, are an important part of our human experience.

At her Studio Gallery in Bloomfield, Ontario (in gorgeous Prince Edward County, located between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal), artist Tara Wilkinson, combines nurture and nature to lovingly handcraft unique, one of a kind nests with fibres, twigs and other found materials. Each nest features a delicious array of colours and textures, and is unique in character and spirit.

Her sculptural art nests are sacred and symbolic vessels that embrace and honour themes that have resonated throughout her life and the lives of women: Strength and independence, birth and rebirth, motherhood, love, spirituality, community … and ultimately, letting go and flying free.

Tara’s nests have been purchased for a variety of celebrations and milestones:

•For the top of a Wedding Cake

•Housewarming and wedding gifts

•As a memorial space to commemorate the passing of a loved one

•As an alternate holding space for messages vs. the traditional guest book

•Baby shower and baptism gifts

•Employee gifts following completion of a training session

•As a Christmas tree ornament to bring good luck and prosperity for the coming year

•To wear in their hair for a wedding (How cool is that!)

Tara also offers a line of gorgeous greeting cards. Each is blank inside, comes with an envelope and is in a clear protective sleeve. Tara’s greeting cards have been used to honour many occasions, and have been used for Anniversary and Shower invitations.

Of all the contributing influences on her life and artistic expression, “motherhood” profoundly shape-shifted her as a human being and as an artist. Tara launched Love Nest Photography offering expectant mothers pregnancy portraits to “Celebrate life to the fullest” in 2004. Following her move to Prince Edward County in 2007, she was then inspired to artfully explore the symbol of the nest further, and launched Love Nest Studios to serve as the “incubator” for all of her creative expressions of the life cycle.
